What is Private mode? How do I enable / disable it?

Within your partner portal, some of your clients may also be your staff members.

As access to the portal can be shared, it is important to keep the personal financial details of your staff private. For this reason, when a staff member has a client account created, it is possible to place the account in ‘Private’ mode. 

Private Mode features

1. Placing an account on Private mode will not affect the access of team members currently recorded in the client's 'Team'. 
   
   
2. Private Mode can only be enabled for individual or household client accounts.
   Entity clients are unable to have their account set to Private mode.
   
   
3. Private Mode can be enabled by any staff member that is able to view a client in the Client list. 
   
   
4. Once Private Mode is enabled, no staff members will be able to access the client's portal. This includes staff with Full Firm View. For more information about Full firm view, see How do I manage permissions for my staff 
   
   
5. Staff assigned to the client will be able to access the client's portal, even when the account is in Private Mode. 
   
   

To place a staff member’s account in private mode:

1. In the partner portal, navigate to Clients>Client List.
   
   
2. Click on 'More actions'  and select 'Make private'.
   
   
   
   
3. A confirmation window will appear. Click ‘Save’ to confirm the change.
   
   
   
   
4. That account will have the viewing eye turned grey, and ‘Private Mode’ will show as a grey eye with a line through it.
   
   
   
   
5. If searching for a Client (who has Private Mode enabled) in the Advanced Search bar, the client portal link will appear as greyed out, indicating the account is on Private Mode and access to their portal is restricted. 
   
   
   

To Disable Private Mode on a staff member’s account :

1. To disable Private Mode, the staff member who wants to disable Private Mode on their account must log in to take action.

2. Navigate to the Client list and search for your account. Click the 'More actions' button and select 'Disable private mode'.

3. A pop-up message appears. Click 'OK'.

4. Private Mode has now been disabled, and all staff can view the client and their portal.
